Slates are used by roofing contractors because they are a low maintenance roofing material which provides good fire protection and resistance to rot. Natural slate roofs are aesthetically pleasing and have a very long lifespan. Howverer, despite slate being available in a variety of sizes the colors available are restricted to those naturally found.
